Activities for The Bridge Child Abuse Prevention Month | KAMR

Amarillo, TX (KAMR/KCIT) – It’s Child Abuse Prevention Month and The Bridge is hosting activities for the month of April. Executive Director Shelly Bohannon tells us The Bridge has already kicked off some events.

Bohannon says, “So April is a man in charge of child abuse prevention. And we kicked off the tribute to the kids who walk through our door with our heroes and legends fundraiser on March 29th.

“And we planted a pinwheel for every child who came through the bridge doors to receive our services. We planted 15,157 windmills on our lawn,” Bohannon added.

The bridge is also planning another community activity at the end of April.

Bohannon says: “At the end of the month, April 30, we go a mile in their shoes, walk, run, some people don’t like to run, but we have a lot who like to walk. So it’s a one mile walk from here to our offices, and just around the neighborhood and then built here, it’s just a way to come together and celebrate the kids in our community.

“Registration forms will be posted on our website tomorrow (today). So sign up for anyone who wants to come,” Bohannon concluded.
