Can-Am enters electric industry with all-new ‘Pulse’ and ‘Origin’ models

Last update:

Amid the weekend scoots, Can-Am’s parent company, BRP, had a BIG reveal; the company now has a brand new case in the office, thanks to its efforts in the lab to create a new range for the biker community proper.

And boy, have they ever knocked it out of the park…at least, from what we can see from the early weekend stuff.

World, discover the Pulse and Origins, BRP’s first-ever electric two-wheeled offerings, and Can-Am’s official dive into zero-emissions space.

The range will reportedly be available for 2024, with the bikes launching alongside an all-new hydraulic spool for BRP’s water-loving Seadoo range.

So what kind of technology has Can-Am pioneered alongside Energica, Triumph, Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire and the rest of the electric motorcycle industry?

It’s called Rotax E-POWER technology, and it’s the result of BRP’s work with its Austrian subsidiary, Rotax.

Believe it or not, the foundation of this powertrain began with a line of go-karts (the Rotax THUNDeR eKarts) in 2017 and, in 2020, the world’s first emission-free hydrogen snow vehicle (the Lynx HySnow ).

Now, BRP’s successes have extended to a neat pair of electric motorcycles – and we can’t wait to see what the bang for those units looks like.

“Today, our story of innovation reaches new heights with the reveal of market-shaping electrical products that will enhance the consumer experience on the road and on the water,” BRP President and CEO José Boisjoli enthuses in the relevant press release.
