Marathon County Public Library Activities, Youth and Adults: January

From January 3 through May 27, young writers ages 9-18 are invited to submit original, unpublished poems for the Marathon County Public Library Youth Poetry Contest. There is no length limit and each person can enter two poems. Entrants must be residents of Marathon County. Submit nominations to [email protected] or drop them off in person at any MCPL location. From January 3 through January 31, adults can pick up a free Grab & Go Craft Kit from any of the nine library locations. The kit will contain supplies to make a decorative pom pom coaster. Free and available while supplies last. For more information, call 715-261-7230.

Wisconsin teens are invited to this virtual hangout hosted by teen librarians across the state. The hangout/discussion will take place on January 10 from 6-7:30 p.m., where teens can laugh, relax, share New Year’s resolutions, and meet other teens. Free. Children and families can drop by the Wausau Library Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau) on January 29 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up a Grab & Go kit that will allow them to make a snow globe in paper ! This craft is offered in conjunction with Winterfest by Wausau Events, which takes place on the same day in downtown Wausau. Kits are free and available while supplies last.
