Plano, Texas – Memorial Day brings the first official pool and barbecue openings of the season, but it’s also a day to honor and remember lost military service members. Here are some ways to celebrate in Plano:
NYLO pool party: Kick off Memorial Day weekend with NYLO’s Summer Splash Pool Party on Saturday, May 28 from 12-6 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door; free for hotel guests on presentation of their room key. Boots & BBQ Fest: On Sunday, May 29 from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Legacy Hall is hosting FREE all-day live country music, craft beer, and a damn good BBQ for their first-ever Boot and BBQ Party! Spend your Sunday in one of the best backyards in Texas! Sip craft beer from our on-site brewery, Unlawful Assembly Brewing Co. and take a wild ride on our mechanical bull.

Memorial Day at the Texas Pool
On Monday, May 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., come celebrate freedom and honor America’s fallen heroes with a party at the Historic Texas Pool. Learn more about Memorial Day with the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m.. Local artists, food trucks and a snack bar, picnic areas and grills will be available. There will also be a raffle, traditional pool games and a cannonball contest. Camping chairs, awnings and coolers (non-alcoholic drinks) are welcome.
The entrance fee is $10/person; Texas Pool members get in FREE without waiting.
Sunset at Memorial Park
On Monday, May 30, let us gather in community for the Sunset at Memorial Park Memorial Day Ceremony, honoring military service members lost in service to our country. The 45-minute program begins at 7 p.m. with the display of the colors, the oath of allegiance and the national anthem. After the invocation and proclamation, the names of the 42 Plano veterans lost in service will be read. After the American flag is folded and passed, a 21-gun salute and TAPS will close the ceremony. This free event is presented by American Legion Harding-Blaine Post 321 and Casey Joyce All-America VFW Post 4380. Note: This year’s ceremony will be held at Hunters Glen Baptist Church as Memorial Park is undergoing renovations.
