Red Bull Dance champion Luke Mizzi eager to represent Malta in South Africa

A young Maltese dancer, crowned Red Bull Dance Champion this year, will fly out to represent the island in international dance competitions – and he’s ready for it.

Luke Mizzi, who represents the MVMT, wowed the crowd and won the popular vote this weekend at the Red Bull Dance Your Style event held at Château Buskett in Rabat.

The winner, who was decided by votes from the crowd, won after a blistering series of freestyle performances where he had to face some of his own friends and colleagues as well as fierce competition.

Although virtually all the dancers brought their A-game to the stage, which was surrounded by fans from all sides, Mizzi was able to win the gold medal and will now fly to Johannesburg, South Africa, to face some of the best dancers. in the world.

Speaking to Lovin Malta, Mizzi said he was “tremendously grateful” to have the opportunity to compete with such talented dancers both locally and abroad.

“I look forward to representing Malta among some of the best dancers in South Africa,” said Mizzi. “No matter the end results, being in their presence will be a huge learning curve for me so I can bring back knowledge and skills to continue pushing the local scene. Thank you to all the Red Bull organisers, my family to MVMT and everyone who supported me!

Mizzi won in a heated showdown with finalist Thea Sapiano.

16 dancers took part in the Maltese event: Sara Cardona, Leonel Viloria Aquino, Rebecca Millo, Thea Sapiano, Rylie Mahlangu, Maria Micallef, Martina Cardona, Mariah Cutajar, Rebekka Cardona, Chloe Scicluna, Ally Mifsud, Matthew Cilia, Krista Attard, Rhea Fenech, Luke Mizzi and Damian Buhagiar.

Each dancer brought their own style to the stage, with the crowd cheering with each completed move.

After the dance, the crowd was treated to a live set from Maltese rapper Eddie Fresco ahead of his own international tour this week as well as a DJ set from Siconix which got the tables going.

Mizzi will now fly to South Africa to compete in the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Johannesburg, where he will compete against dancers from around the world. by following this link.
