Leader in ultra-luxury cruises, Silversea Cruises, baptized Origin of money on February 252022, in a ceremony inspired by an expedition to Saint Kitts, the Galapagos Islands. The guests got into the water on Origin of money‘s Zodiacs, raising a glass as Silversea officially welcomed the ship to its fleet of 10, before Johanna Carrión, esteemed conservationist and permanent resident of the Galápagos Islands, was unveiled as the ship’s sponsor – a selection that underpins Silversea’s long-term commitment to sustainability.

A Royal Caribbean Group tradition, a bagpipe show kicked off the intimate christening ceremony, which marked Jason Liberty baptism of the first ship as the new President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group®. Liberty co-hosted the event with Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Silversea Cruises; Barbara Muckermann, Commercial Director, Silversea Cruises; and Fernando Delgado, Vice President, Silversea Cruises Ecuador. Escorted by the captain Karin ChaconJohanna Carrión made her first speech at Origin of money guests as ship’s godmother, before the bishop Patrick Bonilla bless the ship.

@Silversea officially welcomes #SilverOrigin to the fleet with a christening ceremony inspired by a Galapagos expedition. Galápagos resident @JoyCarrion has been named a Silver Patron because of her commitment to sustainability.

With the long-term goal of preserving the fragile ecosystem of the Galápagos Islands for future generations, Silversea Cruises has launched the Silversea Galapagos Fund to support a diverse selection of educational projects each year. The Scalesia Foundation also receives support from Silversea Cruises.
