Winter holidays offer children the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities

With children out of school during the winter holidays, many take the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. NewsSource8’s Brian Bouchard looks at how some kids look.

Instead of sitting around, playing video games or watching television, many families chose to take advantage of the nice weather and do outdoor activities, such as skiing, tubing or skating. ice.

“My daughters only started skiing about 6 years ago. Something to do in Aroostook County during the winter, get out there and get around. It was a good way to entertain the family. My eldest daughter, Allison, started skiing first, I actually learned to ski at the same time as her, simply because I had never learned to ski before. says Joe Fagnant, a parent.

At Big Rock Mountain in Mars Hill, the kids skied with their friends. When asked why they love skiing and being outdoors, they answered this:

“It’s really fun. I can see friends who go to different schools and I can spend time with my family and be outside” – Alison Fagnant – 5th grade

“Because you can ski with your friends and have fun” – Deklan Taylor – 3rd grade

“Because you can ride a whole bunch of trails and sometimes you can be with your friends.” – Maxwell Shaw – 3rd year

Over the weekend, Joshua Stahl of Près Isle Recreation and Parks was at Mantle Lake Park, setting up an outdoor skating rink. They also host events offering hot chocolate and smores.

And even if you’ve never done an outdoor activity, it’s never too late to learn a new skill.

“It’s never too late to learn and try to get out there and stay healthy. It’s a great activity to be outside and enjoy what Aroostook County has to offer,” says Joe Fagnant.

Some, like Almost Isle’s Logan McNeal, were too busy snowtubing at Quoggy Jo Ski Resort to talk to us, but his mom said if he had the choice, he’d snowtubing all day.
